Closer

By Patrick Marber

Jun 7th to 16th, 2001

Theatre Conspiracy produced Patrick Marber’s award-winning play at Performance Works, Granville Island, between June 7th and June 16th, 2001.

Directed by Richard Wolfe, Closer featured Vancouver actors Kurt Max Runte as Larry, Michelle Harrison as Alice, Steve Griffith as Dan and Sarah Louise Turner as Anna. Original score by Chris Hind, set by Bryan Pollock, lights by Jamie Skidmore and costumes by Andrea Hiestand.

"Closer focuses with a laser-like intensity on the push and pull of the relationships, the brutal power plays, the triumphs and surrenders. WTC’s production does a good job of charting the changing sexual and romantic dynamics." Christopher Dafoe, Vancouver Sun

"This Western Theatre Conspiracy production of Patrick Marber’s play is mud pies for grownups. Everyone ends up dirty. ... Acidic wit ... nasty honesty ...interesting perspectives..."

Jo Ledingham, Vancouver Courier
